Tucker Sargent is in his 11th season as the head coach of the University of Montana men's lacrosse team. In his time at the helm of Montana he has taken the team back to conference prominence, including 2017 PNCLL Conference Championship and to the national tournament in 2017 and 2019. Coach Sargent has coached multiple all-conference players and has had 7 appearances in the conference tournament. His ultimate goal is to build the team back up to a national title contender and recruit strong committed student athletes that can appreciate everything else Montana has to offer in the classroom, on the field and outdoors. Coach Sargent took over the team after graduating and playing for the University of Montana. At Montana Coach Sargent was part of the 2007 National Championship team, an MCLA All-American and three time All-Conference player. Coach Sargent grew up in New England where he enjoyed the outdoors, hockey and lacrosse. He spends his free time playing in the outdoors of Montana, kayaking, skiing and taking his players on wild adventures. Coach Sargent treats the team like his family often having players over for dinners and letting the guys run around with his three basset hounds.
Ben Buskey is in his 7th season of coaching at Montana. He is the chief assistant coach who runs the defense. Coach Buskey immediately made an impact upon his arrival to the program quickly transforming the defensive unit to a hard hitting, low scoring game dominating force. Coach Buskey comes to Montana via Hanover, NH and St. Lawrence University in upstate New York. He spent his college years playing football and lacrosse for the St. Lawrence Saints and went on to captain the lacrosse team during his senior season. At SLU he received All-Liberty League honors for lacrosse in 2006, 2007, and 2008 and for football in 2007. He was selected to the USILA All-American Lacrosse team (Honorable Mention) in 2006 and to the USILA Scholar All-American Lacrosse team in 2008. During his senior year he received the athletic departments Martha Finch award recognizing the most outstanding male senior athlete of the year. He graduated Cum Laude from St. Lawrence University in 2008 with a degree in Economics.
Henry Sulzbacher is returning to the Griz Lacrosse program as an assistant coach for the 2019-2020 season. Coach Sulzbacher was a star defenseman for the Griz from 2008-2010 and graduated with a degree in education. Prior to coming to Montana, he played one season at defense for Ohio Wesleyan University. While playing for the Griz Coach Sulzbacher was a 4 time All-Conference defenseman.
After graduation Coach Sulzbacher continued in lacrosse, playing as a forward for the Calgary Mountaineers (Canadian Sr. Box). He also began his coaching career working as an assistant at: Fairfax High School (Fairfax, VA), Trinity-Pawling School (Pawling, NY), Legend High School (Parker, CO), Denver East High School (Denver, CO). In 2018 Coach Sulzbacher took over as head coach at Columbine High School (Littleton, CO). While at Columbine he was honored as the 2018 Jeffco League Coach of the Year. He also took them to a Colorado state final four and his team finished ranked #10 in the West according to Inside Lacrosse. Coach Sulzbacher also coached summer travel ball with DoCo Lacrosse Club and 3D Colorado.
Coach Sulzbacher arrives back in Missoula with his wife Miranda and their daughter Poppy and dog Tilly. He also plans on working closely with the youth lacrosse in Missoula, helping lacrosse expand in the region with his joint venture with Coach Sargent “Lacrosse Montana” which will serve two functions: grow and elevate. Growing the number of players and opportunities to play lacrosse in the Missoula area by reducing the barriers to access to the game. It will aim to elevate the level of play of those interested in playing at an elite level through camps, clinics, training, and more.
