University of Montana men's lacrosse to Play mexican national team in mexico city
The University of Montana men's lacrosse team is headed to Mexico City January 17th - 22nd to play the Mexican National Team. The Griz have made arrangements to start their season heading to sunny Mexico City for their preseason and have worked a deal with the Mexican National Team to go down there for several days of joint practices that will conclude with an international friendly between the University of Montana and Mexico on January 21st. The Griz are preparing for one of their most grueling regular season schedules in recent history as they look to defend their PNCLL title and make another run in the MCLA National Championships hosted by Under Armour in Salt Lake City, UT. The Mexican National Team is beginning there international schedule by hosting the University of Montana as they prepare for the FIL World Championships in Netanya, Israel in August. The Griz have 17 regular season games on their schedule this season, starting by going to Seattle, WA to play Seattle University and the University of Washington on February 10th and 11th. UM returns a largely veteran roster from the team that won the PNCLL Championship and earned an at large bid the the MCLA National Championships in 2017. Aided by the addition of 8 new impact players this season made up of new freshman and some key transfer students, the Griz look forward to taking on the challenge of making another strong run through the conference schedule with hopes to return the the MCLA National Tournament.
The University of Montana men's lacrosse team aims to put together a competitive "virtual varsity" program on the field every year, drawing players who want to continue to play high level college lacrosse from across the country. The roster is made up of kids from all across the US who have come to Montana to continue their lacrosse careers with the goal of winning an MCLA national championship. Another goal of the team is to create a full college experience for the student athletes that allows them to excel in the classroom (all students are required to meet academic standards in order to be eligible to play), enjoy a social life and take advantage of all the wonderful outdoor recreation activities that being in Montana affords (skiing, snowboarding, biking, rafting, fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, etc.).
