MISSOULA, MONT. - The University of Montana men’s lacrosse team went 1-1 in a pair of weekend home games against conference opponents The University of Oregon and Oregon State University bringing their 2009 record to 3-1.
On Saturday, The Griz lost to perennial Top 25 contender Oregon (ranked #8 in most recent MCLA Lax Mag Poll) in a rebound victory for the Ducks who dropped two games last weekend against #5 University of Minnesota-Duluth and #4 Brigham Young University. Montana was able to stay close throughout most of the game, putting up a halftime score of 4-3, and did a commendable job in keeping the Duck’s usually high-powered offense to lower numbers. Final score: 11-6.
Early Sunday morning, The Griz returned to Washington-Grizzly Stadium to face off against the Oregon State University Beavers in a early-season match-up ripe with post-season significance. After a hard fought back-and-forth match, The Griz were able to keep the Beavers at arm’s length with a 14-12 victory.
Both games were video broadcast live on GrizLax.com. Archived footage of the Oregon State game can be watched HERE.
