2008 Captains
MISSOULA, MONT. - The University of Montana men’s lacrosse team is pleased to announce team captains for the 2008 season. Elected by their teammates, seniors Townsend Hall (Manchester, Mass.), Jake Bagley (Strafford, Vt.), Zander Ault (Katonah, N.Y.), and junior Sam Cameron (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) will lead the Grizzlies in their first season of MCLA Division I competition.
“This group of captains represents exactly the type of player we hope to develop here at Montana,” says Grizzly Head Coach Kevin Flynn. “These guys play hard everyday on the field, they come up big in big games, and they have fun.”
All four captains have been honored with spots on All America teams in the last two seasons. An attackman and midfielder, Hall enters his last season of eligibility with the Griz as the club’s all-time leading scorer (145 goals). Having earned All-America honors in each of his previous three seasons, Hall was additionally selected as the PNCLL-B conference’s overall MVP in 2007. Also entering his fourth year with the club, Bagley was last season’s conference playoff MVP. A 2006 1st team All-American at midfield, he will see time at attack in 2008.
An attackman coming into his third season with the Grizzlies, Zander Ault has tallied 126 career points, second behind Hall in the club’s history. Joining Ault at attack for his second season with the Griz is Sam Cameron, a first team All-America selection in 2007. Both Ault and Cameron started their collegiate careers at NCAA Div. III; Ault at Dickinson College in Pennsylvania and Cameron at Ohio Wesleyan University.
“Zander and Sam have both transferred to Montana over the past 2 seasons and have brought unique skills that have greatly added to our program,” says Flynn. “I think if this group can come together and continue to push each other that they will have a lot of success in ensuring that the mark they’ve made on this program will live on.”
