9th Annual Gem State Lacrosse Tournament
BOISE - The University of Montana Men’s Lacrosse Team concluded its fall schedule Sunday with a third place finish at Boise State University’s 9th Annual Gem State Lacrosse Invitational. Competing against host BSU and six other squads from the Rocky Mountain West and Oregon, the Griz went 4-1 on the weekend.
The single loss came against Utah Valley State College in the Grizzlies’ third game on Saturday, with a worn down Montana team unable to sustain pressure on a stingy Wolverine defense. UVSC went undefeated on the weekend, unseating the Griz as reigning tournament champions.
The Griz offense looked sharp in their four wins, enjoying contributions from a number of new faces in their first competitive contests with the team. Senior Jake Bagley, making the switch from midfield to attack for the weekend, led the squad in scoring. Defensively, freshman goalie Ty Hall had a big weekend between the pipes for the Griz with key stops throughout the tournament.
