Montana defeats USC

Posted on Tuesday 25 March 2008

LOS ANGELES - The University of Montana Men’s Lacrosse team set a strong precedent Monday evening with a 22-10 win in their first career game against the University of Southern California Trojans.

The Griz, coming off a two-week break since their win over Oregon State, came out strong in Tuesday evening’s match. Montana’s high-powered offense seemed to take USC’s defense by surprise, going up 7-0 in the first quarter.

The Griz took advantage of their early-game momentum to control the tempo and pace for the remainder of the match.

By the end of the match 11 grizzlies had found the back of the net, securing Montana’s 22-10 victory.

Junior attackman Sam Cameron led the scoring for the Griz with six goals and two assists. Joining the hat-trick club alongside Cameron were Sophmore Tucker Sargent (4g, 1a), and Freshman Jason Keck (3g, 1a).

All three Grizzly goaltenders saw time in the net.
