Montana opened their Fall scrimmage season, Sunday, with two wins in Moscow, Idaho against The University of Idaho Vandals and the Washington State Cougars.
Looking to size up some of the new and returning Griz, Montana traveled with a roster of 16 freshman and sophmores. In 20-minute running halves, the Griz managed to stay ahead of Idaho with a 4-2 victory, and shut-out a new Washington State team 5-0. Notable players include: Pat Small, who came out with a quick first possession goal against Idaho to start off his 4g, 2a day; Henry Burchenal, who punctuated his Grizzly debut with 5 goals; and Ty Hall, the freshman goalie had a great weekend, only allowing two in the net with a shut-out against WSU. The Grizzly defense played also played well this weekend led by returning sophmores Bryce Davies, Elliott Buchholz, Brogan Ballard and Tom Powers.
Montana will be hosting a home tournament on the weekend of October 13th. Attending will be Idaho, Washington State, Montana State and a number of Men’s teams. Stay tuned to GrizLAX.com for more info.
