22 New Players Join Griz Lacrosse

The University of Montana Men's Lacrosse team welcomes its largest recruiting class in the incoming class of 2020. The 22 incoming players come from 12 different states and are expected to have an immediate impact on the Griz during the 2016-17 season. 

Will Adams, Roanoke, Virginia, sophomore, midfield/attack.  Will plans to study Wildlife Biology.  Will was a midfielder at Patrick Henry High School in Roanoke, Virginia.  Will played attack on the University of Virginia’s club lacrosse team prior to transferring to the University of Montana.  Will’s outside interests are yoga, rock climbing, music, art, photography and anything to do with being out in the woods.  Will chose UM because he wants to begin a new chapter in his life.  After returning home from his time at UVA Will realized he wanted to be out in more remote places.  The wildlife biology and wilderness studies programs at the University of Montana called to him.  He loves the mountains, rivers and wilderness areas that surround campus.

Luke Burridge, Stillwater, Minnesota, freshman, defense.  Luke is undecided as to what he will study in college.  Luke was captain of his high school lacrosse team and a two-time All-Conference selection and All-Section 2nd team.  Luke is I'm interested in Dentistry and Political science. Kevin as been playing lacrosse since he was 12, this past year he received Offensive Player of the Year from his team, All-Star awards and many other honors.

Jeremy Cornely, Puyallup, Washington, freshman, defense.  Jeremy has played lacrosse for eight years and was honorable mention All-State last season.  Jeremy’s outside interests are hunting and fishing.  Jeremy chose UM because he’s always loved the area and wanted a chance to go to school there.

Nolan Davis, Helena, Montana, sophomore, midfield.  Nolan is studying Exercise Science.  Nolan played high school lacrosse in Helena and ran track with the University of Montana’s track team before making the switch to the lacrosse team this year.  Nolan enjoys fishing, camping, hiking and exploring.  Nolan chose UM because the town of Missoula in his mind is the best town in Montana hands down. The diversity and overall atmosphere of the town is amazing. There are a steady stream of events going on around the city, so there is always something to do. Nolan has aspirations of being a physical therapist and hopes to continue schooling at UM once his undergraduate degree is complete.

Ryan Herceg, Nazareth, Pennsylvania, freshman, midfield/face off.  During Ryan’s junior season he led his team in goals, ground balls, and had a win percentage of 69% as a junior.  Ryan chose Montana because he would love to experience the lifestyle here.  Ryan loves the outdoors, and could see himself establishing being in Montana for the rest of his life.  Ryan started on his high school team at the face off position since he was a freshman.  Ryan has played club lacrosse for Twist Black, which is a premier team based out of Philadelphia.  Ryan took face offs for this team, and played quite a bit of defensive midfield.

John Hyatt, Mill Creek, Washington, freshman, goalie. John will be majoring in Russian.  John has been playing lacrosse since he was in fourth grade and recently played for O'Dea High School.  John chose UM because of the location, what outside/outdoor activities it offers, and he will be joining the Marines after he graduates from UM.

Aidan Larson, Salt Lake City, Utah, freshman, attack.  Aidan is planning on studying Wildlife Biology.  Aidan was captain of his lacrosse team at Judge Memorial Catholic High School last season.  Aidan came to UM because he wants to study wildlife biology and in his words “there’s no better place to do it”.

Jared Maier, Issaquah, Washington, freshman, midfield.  Jared plans on studying Athletic Training.  Jared was a four-year varsity member at Liberty high school and a two-year team captain.  Jared chose UM because his dad grew up in Missoula and he has always loved Montana. Jared enjoys hunting, fishing and being outdoors, and he has the opportunity to play lacrosse while getting an education.

Tyler Monaco, Westfield, New Jersey, freshman, defense/LSM.  Tyler went to Saint Peters Preparatory School in Jersey City, NJ where he was a two-year captain on their lacrosse team.  Tyler chose UM because he loves the outdoors and northern landscapes.

Eric Mott, Lake Oswego, Oregon, freshman, defense.  Eric was 2nd Team All-League for Close Defense, 2 State Championship Games, started playing in 8th grade, made Varsity as a Sophomore.  Outside of lacrosse Eric enjoys snowboarding, surfing, hiking, weight lifting and pretty much anything to do with water and water sports, football and various other sports like Spikeball.  Eric chose UM because it is extremely pretty and he loves the outdoors. The campus is close to town and is right in the middle of a ton of adventure opportunities. Eric also wanted to experience something new and meet all new people.

Alex Thoms, Newark, New York, junior, midfield/defense.  Alex comes to us after working a couple of years in the Bakken oil fields outside of Williston, North Dakota.  Alex started his college career doing two years at Finger Lakes Community College and a year at St. John Fisher College in upstate New York.  Alex played defense and long-stick midfield in high school. This transitioned in College when the needs of the team required a short stick defensive midfielder.  Alex wishes to finish his career at a school that suits his hobbies and lifestyle.

Christian Williams, West Linn, Oregon, freshman, midfield. Christian plans on majoring in business.  Christian played for the Black Rhino select lacrosse team based in Portland.  Christian’s outside interests are skiing and wake surfing.  Christian chose UM because of how cool Montana is and because he wanted to come play lacrosse.
